Creating a Drifter
The process below outlines the basics of creating a drifter to explore The Known World of Goan.
Dealing Out Their Fate
To start shuffle the Fate Deck at least 7 times... no less.
Step 1 - Generate Stats
There are 2 possible methods to generate a character's Stats:
Casting for Stats: This method generally produces Stats in the middle range, which is then adjusted further by a character's age and kin.
- Roll 3d6 and record the result, in order, for MGT, AGI, STA, WIT, EMP, and SPR.
Drawing for Stats: This method can produce Stats both very high and very low, which can make a character extremely unique, though may make certain actions extremely hard or extremely easy.
- Draw 1 card and note its value.
- 2-10: Face Value
- Jack, Queen, King, Ace: 11, 12, 13, 14
- Take 20 minus the card's value, this is your MGT score.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for AGI, STA, WIT, EMP, and SPR in order.
Step 2 - Draw for Kin
Draw 2 cards and compare them with the Kin Table. You may choose one of these to be your drifter's kin, writing down their HD, ability, and any traits that correspond with that kin.
Step 3 - Draw for Age
Draw 1 card and compare the result with the Age Table.
Step 4 - Draw for Trade
Draw 3 cards and compare them with the Trade Table. Choose one to be your drifter's trade, writing down their ability, trait, and their starting gear.
Step 5 - Draw for Starting Gear
Draw 4 cards for Starting Gear, one for a container/beast of burden, and 3 more for other starting gear. Compare these cards to the appropriate tables.
